New for 2026 Distributions
Based on customer feedback, we will be adding the following test designs:
Update to our Quality Manger Portal:
Based on customer feedback, the Forensic Assurance Quality Manager Portal has undergone a significant upgrade for our 2025 distributions. Our customers will more easily be able to review, manage and monitor the status for all active proficiency tests.
Six (6) distributions for the Forensic Biology, DNA and Probabilistic Genotyping Software tests:
Forensic Assurance has added a late Spring (April distribution) and a late Fall (October distribution) for our Forensic Biology, DNA and PGS proficiency tests. It should be noted that the Spring distribution (March) and the late Spring distribution (April) will utilize the same contributors and substrates, and the Fall distribution (September) and late Fall distribution (October) will utilize the same contributors and substrates. Additionally, the answer submission deadline for the late Spring and late Fall tests will be approximately 9 weeks after distribution rather than the typical 13 weeks that is allowed for all of our other tests. For more information, please visit the products pages on the Forensic Assurance website.

Declared Double Blind Test Design: Each forensic practitioner will receive a uniquely composed test containing randomly selected known and/or unknown items. The correct answers are specific to each test, preventing participants from gaining information through discussion with others or with test administrators. These blind elements are built into the test design to reduce bias and increase the integrity of results. Please note that Forensic Assurance tests are declared, meaning the participant is aware they are taking a test.
Standard (Static) Proficiency Test Design:All forensic practitioners within a laboratory will receive the same test samples with the same expected results. These tests may include some of the same items used in the double-blind version; however, all samples are unique to each testing cycle. Static proficiency tests follow the same purchase deadlines, distribution dates, and answer submission deadlines as their double-blind counterparts.
